Stewarding Time, Talent and Treasure

Posted on May 13, 2025 | Download

Stewardship of the Heart "Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life." - Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) In Pastor Joe's sermon, we are reminded that stewardship is not just about managing our resources—time, talents, and treasures—but about the condition of our hearts. God is the ultimate owner of everything, and we are entrusted as stewards to manage what He has given us. This responsibility requires us to handle our resources with care, ensuring that our hearts are aligned with God's purposes. Time: Our time is a precious gift from God. Each day is an opportunity to serve Him and others. Are we creating margin in our schedules to allow for divine interruptions, rest, and reflection? Are we using our time to build relationships and invest in what truly matters? Talents: God has uniquely gifted each of us with talents and abilities. These are not for our own glory but to serve others and build up the body of Christ. Are we aware of our gifts, and are we using them to their fullest potential in our families, workplaces, and communities? Treasure: Our financial resources are another area where God calls us to be faithful stewards. Are we honoring God with our first fruits, and are we managing our finances in a way that reflects trust in Him? Generosity is a reflection of a heart surrendered to God. Questions: 1. Time Management: How can we as a family create more margin in our daily lives to ensure we have time for each other, for God, and for those in need around us? What practical steps can we take to prioritize our time better? 2. Talents and Gifts: What are some unique gifts and talents each family member has, and how can we encourage one another to use these gifts to serve others? How can we as a family serve together in our church or community? 3. Financial Stewardship: How can we teach our children the importance of generosity and stewardship with our finances? What are some ways we can practice giving as a family, and how can we involve our children in these decisions? Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting us with the resources of time, talents, and treasures. Help us to steward these gifts wisely and with a heart that seeks to honor You. Teach us to create space in our lives for Your divine purposes and to use our gifts to serve others. May our family be a reflection of Your love and generosity. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Embracing Freedom From Condemnation

In the journey of faith, one of the most liberating truths we can embrace is found in Romans 8:1: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." This profound statement is not just a theological concept but a life-transforming reality for every believer. Let's explore how this truth can impact our daily lives through a four-part reflection. Understanding No Condemnation The idea of "no condemnation" is foundational to our identity in Christ. To be "in Christ" means that our standing before God is not based on our own merits but on the finished work of Jesus. This truth liberates us from the guilt and shame that often accompany our shortcomings. When we internalize that our justification is secured by Christ, we can live in the freedom He provides, free from the accusations of the enemy and our own self-condemnation. Reflect: How often do you find yourself feeling condemned by your own failures? Remember, your justification is not based on your performance but on Christ's sacrifice.   The Role of the Holy Spirit Romans 8:2 tells us, "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death." The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in our sanctification, empowering us to overcome the flesh and live a life pleasing to God. Imagine a relay race where the Holy Spirit is running the third leg, guiding and empowering us to finish strong. This partnership with the Spirit is essential for living out our freedom in Christ. Reflect: How does the Holy Spirit empower you to live free from the law of sin and death? Are there areas in your life where you need to rely more on His strength?   Living in Freedom Romans 8:4 speaks of fulfilling the righteous requirement of the law by walking according to the Spirit. This freedom is not a license to live as we please but an empowerment to live righteously. Walking in the Spirit means surrendering our carnal desires and allowing the Spirit to lead us. It's about living in the freedom and righteousness that God has provided, not by our own might, but through the Spirit's power. Reflect: Are there areas in your life where you are still living carnally? How can you surrender those areas to the Spirit?   Embracing Your Identity in Christ Romans 8:16-17 reminds us that we are children of God and heirs with Christ. This identity shapes our perspective on life, challenges, and struggles. As part of God's family, we are loved and secure, and nothing can separate us from His love. Embracing this identity allows us to live confidently, knowing that we are heirs to His promises and participants in His divine nature. Reflect: How does your identity as a child of God impact your daily life? Are you living confidently in this truth?   In conclusion, the truth of no condemnation in Christ is a powerful foundation for our faith. By understanding our position in Christ, relying on the Holy Spirit, living in freedom, and embracing our identity, we can walk in the fullness of life that God intends for us. Let this truth transform your heart and mind, leading you to a deeper relationship with Him.   Prayer: Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, acknowledging the incredible gift of freedom and grace that You have given us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for the assurance that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Help us to live in the fullness of this truth, free from guilt and shame, and empowered by Your Spirit. Holy Spirit, guide us daily as we seek to walk according to Your leading. Strengthen us to overcome the desires of the flesh and to live lives that reflect Your righteousness. May we continually set our minds on things above, embracing our identity as Your beloved children and heirs with Christ. Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and strength to live out our faith boldly and confidently, knowing that we are secure in Your love. Let our lives be a testament to Your grace and a beacon of hope to those around us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.   To watch the full message called "Sanctified By The Spirit" CLICK HERE.

Free from Addiction

Scripture Reading: Romans 6:6-7 "For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been set free from sin." Reflection Addictions can feel like chains that bind us, holding us captive and preventing us from living the life God intended for us. Whether it's a substance, a behavior, or a thought pattern, addictions can dominate our lives and lead us away from the freedom we have in Christ. However, the good news is that through Jesus, we have the power to break free from these chains. In Romans 6, Paul reminds us that our old self was crucified with Christ. This means that the power of sin, which includes addictions, has been broken. We are no longer slaves to sin because we have been set free through the death and resurrection of Jesus. This freedom is not just a future promise but a present reality for those who are in Christ. Breaking free from addiction begins with recognizing that we are dead to sin and alive in Christ. This is a spiritual truth that we must reckon with daily. It involves a conscious decision to no longer let sin reign in our bodies and to present ourselves to God as instruments of righteousness. Here are some steps to help you break free from addiction: Acknowledge the Problem: The first step to overcoming any addiction is to admit that it exists. Denial only keeps us in bondage. Confess your struggle to God and ask for His help. Rely on God's Strength: Understand that you cannot overcome addiction in your own strength. Depend on the power of the Holy Spirit to help you resist temptation and make godly choices. Immerse Yourself in God's Word: The Word of God is transformative. As you read and meditate on Scripture, it will renew your mind and help you see yourself as God sees you—free and victorious. Seek Accountability: Find a trusted friend, mentor, or support group who can walk with you on this journey. Accountability provides encouragement and helps keep you on track. Pray Continually: Prayer is a powerful tool in breaking free from addiction. Pray for strength, wisdom, and perseverance. Ask God to fill you with His peace and joy. Remember, breaking free from addiction is a process. It may not happen overnight, but with God's help, you can experience true freedom. Application Questions: What steps can you take today to acknowledge and confront any addictions or habitual sins in your life? How can immersing yourself in God's Word and prayer help you in your journey to freedom from addiction? Who can you reach out to for accountability and support as you seek to break free from addiction? Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come before You today, acknowledging my struggles and the chains of addiction that have held me captive. I thank You for the truth of Your Word, which declares that I am no longer a slave to sin because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Lord, I ask for Your strength and guidance as I seek to break free from these chains. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, empowering me to resist temptation and to walk in the freedom You have given me. Help me to immerse myself in Your Word, allowing it to transform my mind and renew my spirit. Surround me with godly people who can support and hold me accountable on this journey. I pray for Your peace to guard my heart and mind, and for Your joy to be my strength. Thank You, Lord, for Your unfailing love and grace. I trust in Your power to deliver me and to lead me into a life of righteousness and freedom. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Grace for Community

Scripture Reading: Romans 1:7-12 In the Book of Romans, the Apostle Paul writes to the believers in Rome, expressing his deep desire to visit them and impart some spiritual gift to strengthen them. He emphasizes the importance of mutual encouragement within the community of faith. Paul, despite being a renowned apostle, acknowledges his need for encouragement from fellow believers, highlighting the significance of community in the Christian journey. Reflection: As families, we often find ourselves juggling various responsibilities—careers, raising children, and maintaining relationships. In the midst of these demands, it can be easy to overlook the importance of being part of a supportive Christian community. Paul’s letter to the Romans reminds us that we are not meant to walk this journey alone. We need compadres—fellow believers who can encourage us, pray for us, and stand with us in times of need. Paul’s longing to visit the Roman believers was not just about imparting knowledge but about building a community where faith could be mutually strengthened. This is a powerful reminder that our faith is not just personal but communal. We are called to be part of a body that rejoices together, mourns together, and grows together in Christ. Application Questions: 1. Who are your compadres? Reflect on the people in your life who provide spiritual encouragement and support. How can you strengthen these relationships to ensure you are both giving and receiving encouragement? 2. How can you actively participate in your church community? Consider ways you can engage more deeply with your church family, whether through small groups, service opportunities, or simply reaching out to others in need of encouragement. 3. What steps can you take to ensure your family is part of a supportive community? Discuss with your family how you can collectively be more involved in church activities or community groups that foster spiritual growth and mutual encouragement. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of community. Help us to recognize the importance of having compadres in our lives who can encourage us and whom we can encourage in return. Guide us to be active participants in community, and give us the grace to build relationships that reflect Your love and support. May our families be strengthened by the bonds we form with fellow believers, and may we always seek to glorify You in our interactions with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.   To learn more about the Biblical plan for community: WATCH HERE
