Olivia Sims

Who I am:

I am a passionate follower of Jesus who loves to spread the Good News wherever I go. I love to show others God’s love and be a blessing to everyone I meet. I am very passionate about outreach and missions. I grew up as a Pastor’s Kid, going on mission trips to different places locally and globally. Those mission trips were where Jesus captured my heart, and I knew I wanted to share Him with everyone I met. I have such a heart for loving the unlovable and helping the helpless.
I’m also a wife to an incredibly awesome man of God, my husband Roger (a.k.a. Pastor Roger). I have the honor and privilege of being his wife and serving alongside him in ministry, blessing those around us. I’m a mom to my two beautiful children, Zoe and Roger III (a.k.a. Baby Roger). My children are absolute, precious blessings from the Lord and answers to prayer!
What I do:
I have the privilege of being the SomaKids Volunteer Coordinator. I love being able to onboard all of the new SomaKids Volunteers to help them on their journey of serving in SomaKids. I also have the honor of communicating with and scheduling the current volunteers. I get to work alongside the Pastors and SomaKids Coordinators regularly. So, if you’re interested in serving in SomaKids, you will hear quite a bit from me!
What I’ve done:
I grew up in Michigan, and I moved to Texas in 2007, shortly after I graduated High School. I met my sweet husband two months after I moved down here! I finished my teaching degree from UT Tyler in 2012. I taught 1st grade for two years and married the love of my life in 2014. I continued teaching 2nd and 3rd grade for three more years. I completed my Master’s in School Counseling in 2016 from UT Tyler. I was a school counselor for five years, working with people of Pre-K through Sixth Grade. Finally, I transitioned out of being in the school system. I had my two beautiful children while I had the honor and privilege of serving at Soma. I am forever grateful for that!
