Stewardship of the Heart
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” – Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)
In Pastor Joe’s sermon, we are reminded that stewardship is not just about managing our resources—time, talents, and treasures—but about the condition of our hearts. God is the ultimate owner of everything, and we are entrusted as stewards to manage what He has given us. This responsibility requires us to handle our resources with care, ensuring that our hearts are aligned with God’s purposes.
Time:
Our time is a precious gift from God. Each day is an opportunity to serve Him and others. Are we creating margin in our schedules to allow for divine interruptions, rest, and reflection? Are we using our time to build relationships and invest in what truly matters?
Talents:
God has uniquely gifted each of us with talents and abilities. These are not for our own glory but to serve others and build up the body of Christ. Are we aware of our gifts, and are we using them to their fullest potential in our families, workplaces, and communities?
Treasure:
Our financial resources are another area where God calls us to be faithful stewards. Are we honoring God with our first fruits, and are we managing our finances in a way that reflects trust in Him? Generosity is a reflection of a heart surrendered to God.
Questions:
1. Time Management: How can we as a family create more margin in our daily lives to ensure we have time for each other, for God, and for those in need around us? What practical steps can we take to prioritize our time better?
2. Talents and Gifts: What are some unique gifts and talents each family member has, and how can we encourage one another to use these gifts to serve others? How can we as a family serve together in our church or community?
3. Financial Stewardship: How can we teach our children the importance of generosity and stewardship with our finances? What are some ways we can practice giving as a family, and how can we involve our children in these decisions?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting us with the resources of time, talents, and treasures. Help us to steward these gifts wisely and with a heart that seeks to honor You. Teach us to create space in our lives for Your divine purposes and to use our gifts to serve others. May our family be a reflection of Your love and generosity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
