Ken Reid

Who I am:

My favorite title is dad. I have a 5-year-old named Owen, a two-year-old name Faye, and a wonderful wife named Bekka who I get to work alongside at Soma. I love playing and writing music, blogging, playing nerdy strategy board games, conversing with friends at viby coffee shops, and being challenged with unfamiliar ideas.

What I do:

I have a couple jobs, and I like it that way. I work half the week as SomaChurch’s office administrator. I’m in charge of marketing and communications, help manage finances, handle managerial logistics for the church, and try not to procrastinate. The other half of the week, I work as a content writer/copywriter for a local web design company in downtown Tyler.

On the side, I blog for a few publications, including Relevant Magazine, LightWorkers, and HeartSupport. I also play music at a few churches here in Tyler.

What I’ve done:

I moved 923 miles away from home in I grew up in Gaston County, North Carolina to East Texas at 17-years-old to join an internship at Teen Mania Ministries. That’s where I met my wife. We were a part of the School of Worship program where we both toured in a band and played for Teen Mania’s Acquire The Fire conference. Since then, I’ve focused primarily on writing and blogging for myself, for local businesses, and for large Christian publications.
